Causes and Risk Factors Mesothelioma
The pleural mesothelioma is almost always caused by exposure to asbestos fibers on the workplace. It is usually diagnosed between 20 and 40 years after first exposure. The risk of pleural mesothelioma is increasing in all asbestos workers, but people ¿working in the field of shipbuilding and insulation of buildings are most likely to be affected by this disease. The family members of asbestos workers may also be suffering from pleural mesothelioma, especially if they have been in contact with contaminated work clothes.
The risk of pleural mesothelioma could be higher among people with pleural tuberculosis or chronic pulmonary infections.
